SUPPORT BUILT AROUND REAL LIFE

Care should fit your family—not force your family to fit the service.

Family Checks provides familiar, dependable, non-medical caregiving support for older adults, adults with disabilities and others who may not safely be left alone. We work directly with families, learn established routines and aim to limit care to one primary caregiver and a small number of familiar backup choices whenever possible.

START WITH A CONVERSATION

Meet us before deciding whether we are right for your family.

The free, no-obligation initial meet-and-greet can take place in the person’s home or another mutually comfortable location. Family members may meet with us privately or include their loved one and other appropriate family members. Ask questions, explain routines and preferences, and get to know the people who may be providing support before making a decision.

Tell us what is needed

Every family’s situation is different. We listen carefully and learn what support, routines, scheduling and communication would be most helpful.

Meet the caregivers

Families deserve to know who may be caring for their loved one. Meet us, ask questions and become comfortable before care begins.

Build a familiar plan

When service is arranged, we aim to use one primary caregiver and a small number of familiar backup choices rather than a constantly changing list of people.

CURRENT FAMILY CHECKS SERVICES

Practical help for everyday caregiving.

Familiar recurring in-home support

Regularly scheduled support provided by a primary caregiver and a small number of familiar backup choices whenever possible.

Personal care and daily routines

Assistance with personal care, mobility, meals, hydration, companionship, light household needs and established daily routines.

Post-hospital support

Extra non-medical help during the important first days after returning home, including meals, hydration, mobility, comfort and everyday safety.

Appointments, errands and community outings

Support getting to appointments, completing essential errands and managing demanding days outside the home.

Food, meals and grocery support

Help with meal preparation, grocery pickup and making sure food and drink remain accessible throughout the day.

Family communication and updates

Clear updates can be provided to the decision-maker and, when requested, other approved family members.

Brief wellness visits, companionship, short-notice requests and other personalized support may also be available. Services are arranged directly with the family and depend on individual needs, caregiver availability and whether the requested care can be provided safely.

CARE BUILT ON FAMILIARITY

Professional experience matters. Your knowledge matters too.

Our family brings experience from hospitals, long-term care, home care, senior support, dementia care, mental-health support, private clients and residential homes serving youth and adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities. However, no professional knows your loved one as well as the people closest to them. We want to understand and follow the routines, preferences and approaches that already work.

Familiar caregivers

We aim to avoid unnecessary caregiver changes and build trust through familiar faces.

Qualified and prepared

Caregivers provide only services they are qualified, documented and properly prepared to perform.

Respect for routines

Care is planned around the individual’s established preferences, comfort, communication style and changing needs.

Clear family updates

The decision-maker can identify approved relatives who should receive agreed-upon information.

WHEN PLANS SUDDENLY CHANGE

You can still call and ask.

Regular caregivers become unavailable, work schedules change and unexpected situations happen. Family Checks cannot guarantee that every short-notice request can be filled, but families are welcome to contact us. Having already completed a meet-and-greet and shared important care information may make arranging suitable help easier when availability exists.

WHAT WE ARE EXPLORING

New options shaped by what caregivers told us.

These programs are under consideration. They are not yet available or promised.

Flexible Clubhouse care

Think of your loved one relaxing in a comfortable living room with familiar caregivers—only in a shared location where families can share labour and food costs, helping keep flexible hours more affordable.

Backup-care planning

Meet one or two familiar caregivers before regular arrangements fail or a short-notice emergency happens.

Limited familiar-care programs

Consistent scheduled support with one primary caregiver and familiar backup choices who learn the family’s routines.

Flexible food and transportation support

Food and drink choices, escorted appointments and assistance using suitable community transportation options are being explored.
