Your family deserves to know who is providing the care.
Family Checks is built around familiarity, honesty and direct communication. Families should be able to meet us, ask questions and become comfortable before deciding whether our support feels right for their loved one.

Families need care options that fit the way life actually works.
Caregiving has changed. Many households depend on two incomes, family members often live in different communities, people are living longer and suitable care spaces can have long waiting lists. Families are frequently left trying to balance employment, appointments, emergencies and their own health while supporting someone who cannot safely be left alone.
We started Family Checks to help create dependable, practical choices for those moments. We cannot eliminate every challenge or remove the real cost of compassionate care, but we can listen carefully, offer fair options and build services that remain available for families who need them.

Professional experience matters. Your knowledge matters too.
We bring caregiving training and experience, but no professional knows your loved one as well as the people closest to them. We want to understand and follow the routines, preferences and approaches that already work.
Familiar faces
We aim to provide one primary caregiver and a small number of familiar backup choices whenever possible.
Meet us first
Families can meet the caregivers, ask questions and get to know us before using a service.
Clear communication
Updates can be provided to the decision-maker and, when requested, other approved family members.
Respect for routines
Care is planned around the individual’s established routines, comfort, preferences and changing needs.
A family team with experience across different care settings.
Our family’s experience includes hospitals, home care, senior support, dementia care, mental-health support, and care homes serving youth and adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Every caregiver will provide only services they are qualified, documented and properly prepared to perform. Before care begins, families will have the opportunity to understand who may be providing support and ask the questions that matter to them.

JESSICA NASH
Founder and Personal Support Worker
Jessica brings 13 years of caregiving experience and a work ethic that started early—she began working at Tim Hortons two days before her fifteenth birthday. After the 2014 Fairview Lodge fire displaced nearly 200 residents, Jessica supported residents across several temporary care facilities. Because she already knew many of them, their routines and what brought them comfort, she provided a familiar face during an overwhelming transition. Now a proud first-time mother, Jessica brings that same dependability, compassion and commitment to Family Checks. Jessica also works in Family Medicine at Saint John Regional Hospital.

GI RIDEOUT
Personal Support Worker and Patient Care Attendant
Gi brings more than 14 years of long-term-care experience, four years in Family Medicine at Saint John Regional Hospital, and years of supporting private home-care clients. Exceptionally kind, generous and hardworking, she forms genuine connections with clients and their families. People naturally trust Gi and feel comfortable opening up to her—a gift she shares with her grandmother, who had the same remarkable ability to make complete strangers feel heard.

JAMIE RIDEOUT
Certified Personal Support Worker
Jamie is a certified Personal Support Worker with eight years of long-term-care experience, four years in home care, and one year in a residential setting supporting young adults with complex behavioural needs. A proud father and member of a close-knit family, Jamie believes dependable care begins with familiarity, patience, respect and genuinely getting to know each person.

JAMES RIDEOUT
Nursing Student and Caregiver
James is entering the fourth and final year of his Registered Nursing degree after building five years of long-term-care experience, one year supporting residents in a John Howard Society care home, and two years in Family Medicine at Saint John Regional Hospital. Nearly 6′3″, James is affectionately known as the family’s gentle giant—intelligent, compassionate and remarkably patient. Children, animals and older adults are naturally drawn to his calm, reassuring presence.

JEREMY
Automotive Technician and Family Support Team Member
Jeremy works as an automotive technician at Toyota and brings strong practical skills, patience and a natural willingness to help. Growing up in a family where people looked out for one another taught him the importance of being dependable, noticing what needs to be done and stepping in without making a fuss. Calm, capable and approachable, Jeremy supports Family Checks through practical assistance, companionship and the everyday work that keeps a family-run service moving.

JOEL
Future Caregiver, Current Care Receiver and Chief Flyer Distributor
Joel is Family Checks’ youngest team member—and, by family accounts, an occasional tiny terror. He enjoys visiting with seniors, or nearly anyone willing to listen, and happily baby-talks their ears off. Already showing enthusiasm for community outreach, Joel particularly enjoys handing out Family Checks questionnaire flyers.
